The Carbon County Airport in Mahoning Township will now be known as the Jacob M. Arner Memorial Airport, following its rededication today in memory of Arner at a program that attracted more than 1,000 people.

William A. Bechtel, chairman of the Carbon County Airport Authority, presided at the dedication ceremony, the highlight of which was the unveiling of a plaque honoring the late Arner, labeling him as “an aviation pioneer.”

The plaque, which contained a line sketch of Arner, was purchased with donations from friends of Arner and the Quiet Birdmen organization, of which Arner was a member.
