Flood watch issued for this afternoon

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch, beginning at 2 p.m. Monday through the evening.

Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be flooded.

Thunderstorms with locally heavy rain are expected across the watch area this afternoon and this evening. Widespread rainfall amounts of 1-2 inches with localized amounts of 3-5 inches are expected. These totals may result in flash flooding.

Today: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Some storms could be severe, with damaging winds and heavy rain. Patchy fog before 10 a.m. High near 82. Light and variable wind becoming southeast 10 to 15 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

Tonight: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Some storms could be severe, with damaging winds and heavy rain. Patchy fog before 3 a.m., then patchy fog after 4 a.m. Low around 62. East wind 5 to 10 mph becoming west in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

Tuesday: Showers likely, then showers and thunderstorms after 11 a.m. High near 75. South wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Tuesday Night: Showers and thunderstorms before 2 a.m., then a slight chance of showers. Low around 62. Southwest wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Wednesday: A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 2 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 74. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
