A 30-year-old Polk Township man was killed in a motorcycle crash Saturday night on Mauch Chunk Road in Palmerton.

Carbon County Coroner Bob Miller said James Apgar III, was traveling west when he sideswiped a car and hit a tree.

It happened around 10:15 p m. Saturday in the 1200 block. Miller said he was not wearing a helmet.

The road was closed while police investigated.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.

Palmerton Police are investigating.
