Carbon Career & Technical Institute honors retiring staff members

Brent Borzak, Carbon Career & Technical Institute Administrative Director, took time at the joint operating committee meeting June 15 to pay tribute to two retired CCTI staff members; Jean Bales and Michele Troutman.

Jean Bales was honored for her 30-plus years of teaching social studies courses at CCTI.

“In fact, she had taught me what I used to teach here,” Borzak said. “Her dedication to the trade, to the art of teaching is something to be looked upon by the younger generations coming in; the loyalty, the dedication, to stick it out all these years, and to put the effort in, and to inspire the kids over many, many years.”

“I do appreciate it,” Bales said. “I am grateful for the many opportunities here.”

Borzak then honored Shelly Troutman for her more than 20 years working in the Culinary Department.

“The work ethic, the dedication and supporting several instructors over the years,” Borzak explained. “Mentoring new teachers, mentoring new aides, always a dedication to work. She definitely left a legacy and a lasting impact here at CCTI. So, thank you so much for everything you’ve done.”

“Thank you, everybody,” Troutman said, emotion filling her voice. “I just want to say thank you so much.”
