Lehighton’s Farmers Market is in full swing

Supporting local farms and other businesses has been the goal of the Lehighton Downtown Farmers Market. This year, the market is held at the Lehighton D & L Trailhead near the pavilion and the caboose.

“We hold it every Saturday now from 9 (a.m.) to 12,” Bambi Elsasser, Lehighton Main Street manager said. “The vendors said the are starting to see more people shopping.”

The Farmers Market continues to draw in people looking for local produce and other things like baked goods, honey, dairy products, and meats.

The Deprovich Family Farm, of Germansville, had a wide variety of fresh produce for sale. Kim and Tim Deprovich operate the farm.

“This is our second week back,” Kim Deprovich said. “We were in the upper park before; then, we took two years off for our daughter, who was getting ready for her graduation. Now, we’re back.”

“We’re getting used to the new location,” Kim said. “We like it here; it’s great.”
