For his Eagle Scout project, Anthony Odorizzi compiled a directory for the Civil War Monument at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Tamaqua.
It includes the names of 226 veterans who fought in the Civil War, along with their location on the monument and history about the monument.
Odorizzi, a member of Tamaqua Boy Scout Troop 777, also provided new lighting for the monument and flagpole, and was honored for his work at the recent Memorial Day services held at the cemetery.
“I wanted to do something that would benefit the community as well as help to preserve a piece of Tamaqua history,” he said. “We also thought it was a good way to honor all the veterans who are named on the monument.”
Odorizzi was helped by his uncle, Mike Kopelcheck; fellow Scouts, Ethan Risteter, Alex Porambo and Brenden Mitchell; Eric Zizelmann of Tamaqua Remembers; and Justin Bailey of the Tamaqua Odd Fellows.
He is a son of Tony and Kathy Odorizzi, Tamaqua, and a junior at Marian Catholic High School.
