State police at Stroudsburg

State police at the Stroudsburg barracks reported on the following cases:

• Police said they were summoned at 10:29 a.m. May 29 to a property on Rimrock Road, Hamilton Township, for a Megan’s Law case.

Police said they were called there for a failure to comply with the law incident.

• Jason Thomas, 39, of Tannersville, was arrested for driving under the influence after a traffic stop they made at 9:50 p.m. May 25.

Police said they stopped him for Motor Vehicle Code violations while driving a 2020 Ford on Route 33 in Hamilton Township.

Thomas was arrested, processed and released, police said.

• Police charged Jose Martinez, 79, of Stroudsburg, for scattering rubbish after they were called to an illegal dumping incident at 6:54 p.m. June 2.

Police said it happened at 5139 Milford Road, Middle Smithfield Township. The victim is Shane Simons, 22, of Saylorsburg.

He told police Martinez was seen dumping household items in and around a clothing bin on his property.

• Police said a 15-year-old boy from Saylorsburg was cited for harassment by physical contact after they were called to PA Treatment and Healing, 149 Saw Mill Court, Smithfield Township, at 11:26 a.m. May 25.

It was determined the boy pushed a 13-year-old girl from East Stroudsburg, subjecting her to unwanted physical contact and resulting in the girl sustaining back and hip injuries.

• Jennifer A. Berger, 37, of Thornhurst, suffered injuries in a two-vehicle mishap at 2:46 a.m. May 13 on Route 33 in Hamilton Township.

Police said she was transported by personnel from the Suburban Ambulance to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Stroudsburg.

Police said she was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Edward R. Berger, 36, also of Thornhurst, that was involved in a crash with a vehicle operated by William D. Thompson, 29, of Stroudsburg. Neither driver suffered injuries, police said.

Police did not provide a synopsis of the crash.

• Harpreet Singh, 30, of Eureka, California, had minor injuries in a tractor trailer crash at 10:21 p.m. June 3 on Route 33 in Hamilton Township.

He was transported by personnel from St. Luke’s Emergency and Transport Services to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Pocono, East Stroudsburg.

Police said he was operating the rig southbound when it struck a guide rail and overturned onto its passenger side, sliding approximately 400 feet before coming to a halt. Police said the right lane of the highway was closed down due to the crash.

The 2024 Freightliner was towed from the scene.

Police said Singh was cited for the incident.

• Police are investigating the theft of four generator cables valued at $1,000 each from the Giant Supermarket, Route 611, Hamilton Township.

Police said between 1:27 and 1:29 a.m. May 1, the cables were stolen from the rear of the store. They said surveillance footage at the scene shows two suspects taking the cables and putting them into the trunk of a 2018 Nissan Sentra bearing a New Jersey registration number K17 NUA before entering the vehicle and leaving the scene.

Police said the car is owned by a rental company and was rented to a woman on April 27. The woman said another man, serving as the current suspect, had accessibility to the vehicle on a daily basis without her accompaniment, but since failed to confirm or deny his involvement in the theft.

The suspects have yet to be identified, police said.
