Thirty-eight pilots took part in the Float and Fly Saturday and Sunday at Mauch Chunk Lake Park, where they made it look easy as they tested their model planes, most of them handmade and powered with weed-whacker and chain saw motors.

The pilots orchestrated their planes through a number of airborne acrobatics while standing on shore of the lake with hand-held radios.

Harvey Sterner, president of the Beltzville Flying Machine Society, sponsor of the event, said pilots participating in the Float and Fly included local residents as well as some from Florida, New Jersey and the Lehigh Valley.
