Two Carbon County men have been charged with selling heroin to an undercover officer in Lehighton, Mahoning Township police announced Thursday.

Joseph D. Franklin, of Lehighton, and Steven M. Mika, of Weissport, were both transported to Carbon County prison and bail was set at $50,000.The sale took place near the Mallard Market at the conclusion of a joint investigation by Mahoning Township police, Lehighton Borough police, the Carbon County Drug Task Force and the Carbon County District Attorney's office.Mika fled from police on foot and engaged an officer in a physical altercation in the middle of the road.He had bench warrants out for his arrest in Carbon County, dated Oct. 8, and Northampton County, dated Oct. 13.Franklin was charged with possession with intent to manufacture or deliver a controlled substance, criminal conspiracy, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.Mika faces the same charges and resisting arrest.
