Panther Valley hires two teachers
The Panther Valley School Board moved forward on Wednesday with hiring two teachers.
The board hired Eric Bealla as a junior/senior high school business teacher under an emergency permit effective the start of the 2023-24 school year at a salary of $43,436 per the current Panther Valley Education Association contract.
Also hired was Shania Fisher as an intermediate school Title I math teacher effective the start of the school year at the same rate as Bealla.
School Board President Daniel Matika said they still have one teacher position to fill.
Other business
• Hiring Rebecca Ebbert as an elementary school secretary effective July 17 at $17.19 an hour per the Teamsters Local Union No. 773 contract.
• Jesse Walck’s attendance at an ASBO Conference in the National Harbor, Maryland, Oct. 19-21 at a cost of $1,156.38.
• Robert Palazzo to take the following three-credit course at King’s College (summer session) at a cost of $448 a credit: District Leadership Field Experience II.
• The following Summer 2023 Extended School Year Program at the current contract rate: Evelyn Hydock, teacher.
• The following 2023 summer school staff at the junior/senior high school: Bruce Millheim and Patrick Crampsie.
• The application to the state Department of Education for flexible instruction days.
• The 2023-24 agreement with the Carbon-Monroe-Pike Drug and Alcohol Commission Inc. and the district for two days of service weekly over the 38 weeks in the school year at a total cost of $14,800.
• The following mentors for the 2023-24 school year at the current teacher contract rate: Shania Fisher, Renata Lawrence, Abbie Neff, Lauren Diebert, Tianna Pucklavage, new teachers, and Ann Michele Houser, Nicole Hajcak, JoAnne Damian, Tonia Miletto, Maria Wozniak, mentors, respectively.
• Chaperones for 2023-24 for the All Night Party: Paul Frederick, Michele Frederick, Donna Kruslicky and John Orsulak Jr.
• The following staff members for the Summer Math Curriculum from June 26-30: M. Wozniak, Victoria Yazwinsky, Lauren Wall, T. Miletto, A.M. Houser, and Kirsten Matalavage.
• The Panther Valley School District Health and Safety Plan for 2023-24, and the School Safety and Security Report.
• The following teacher for the 2023 Pre-K Summer Program per the current contract: Elizabeth Hoherchak. Stefanie Palina was removed.
• The request of Superintendent David McAndrew Jr. to carry over five vacation days from 2022-23 to the following year.
• Full-time permanent status to Amanda Brogan, junior/senior high school special education teacher, effective immediately.
