Walnutport VFW holds annual Day of Remembrance service

Members of the R.W. Fritzinger VFW Post 7215 and the Auxiliary of Walnutport held the annual Day of Remembrance ceremony at the Veterans Memorial Monument on Washington Street.

Commander Jerry Healey led the program.

“We are gathered here today to remember the many brave men and women who have given their lives through history for our country, to protect us from danger and harm. We remember all those who sustained injury in mind and body in the course of their service. We salute all those who served in the military,” Healey said.

During the playing of taps, VFW Judge Advocate Tom Kunkle raised the American flag.

Members of the VFW and Auxiliary who helped prepare the monument for the service and who took part include: Jerry Healey, commander; Eugene Sarnicky, quartermaster; Tom Kunkle, judge advocate; Bruce Jones, current commander until July; Tom Ondush, trustee; Karen Bandzi, auxiliary president; and Michele Minnich, senior vice president.
