Local roundup: Results from May 16
The Northwestern boys and girls lacrosse teams posted wins over Southern Lehigh Tuesday.
Elsewhere, the Tamaqua baseball and Weatherly softball teams also picked up victories.
BOYS LACROSSE
Northwestern-So. Lehigh
Northwestern spread the wealth in its way to a 11-5 win over Southern Lehigh.
Cade Christopher led the way for the Tigers (12-6 overall) with two goals and four assists, while Austin Sosnovik added three goals and an assist.
Cody Hallock (two goals, assist), Blaine Snyder (one goal, two assists), Devon Hildebrand (two goals) and Stone Sosnovik (goal) all contributed to the scoring in the win.
Bailen Smargiassi made nine saves in the win.
GIRLS LACROSSE
So. Lehigh-Northwestern
Ava Collins posted her 200th career point as Northwestern earned an 18-14 victory over Southern Lehigh.
Collins finished with six goals for the Tigers (11-7 overall), which helped her tally a career milestone on the night.
Alexis Vennera led the way with seven goals and two assists in the win.
Olivia Costa added four goals and Emma Yanders finished with eight saves.
Jessica Montz paced the Spartans (13-3), as she recorded four goals and four assists. Lauren Miller also scored four goals.
BASEBALL
Tamaqua-Notre Dame ES
Tamaqua needed just three innings to cruise to a 21-1 non-league win over Notre Dame East Stroudsburg.
Mason Ligenza had the hot bat for the Blue Raiders (11-8 overall), as he was a double shy of hitting for the cycle. Ligenza connected for a single, triple and added a solo home run to start the second inning. He finished with three runs scored, two RBIs and a walk.
Lucas Kamant added two singles, four runs scored and two RBIs for the winners, while Wyatt Steigerwalt had two singles, a walk and three runs scored.
Noah Mateyak (two singles, a run scored, three RBIs) and Lucas Milot (two singles, two runs scored, two RBIs) each added multiple hits in the win.
Malcom Naughton led the way for the Spartans (3-15), with a double, a run scored and an RBI.

Weatherly finished the regular season with a 14-5 non-league win over Columbia-Montour AVTS.
Madisyn vonFrisch allowed just one hit, struck out 14 – which gives her 569 on her career – and only allowed one walk in the win.
Annalise Sahaida led the way for the Wreckers (13-7 overall) at the plate with two singles, two runs scored and three RBIs.
Kelly Michaels (two singles, RBI) and Juliette Bartel (two singles, four runs scored, walk) each added multiple hits for the victors.
