Beginning Wednesday, travelers in Brodheadsville will be detoured in a temporary roundabout configuration at Route 209 near Pleasant Valley High School.
Sean Brown, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation safety press officer, said the contractor will be switching traffic at the Route 209/Pleasant Valley intersection into a temporary roundabout pattern.
The pattern will be using the footprint of the permanent roundabout but it is temporary while the contractor finishes the median or center part of the roundabout. This is only at the 209/Pleasant valley, not routes 209/115.
Brown said the traffic pattern will probably last until the end of the year. The entire project is scheduled to be completed in November 2024.
The project, estimated at a cost of almost $19 million, involves two roundabouts, one near the school and one at the intersection with Route 115,
Latona Trucking Inc., of Pittston was awarded the contract for $18,823,324 in March 2021.
The project includes widening routes 209 and 115 from two to four lanes.
