Letter to the Editor: Supports Zeigler for Carbon sheriff

As the District Attorney of Carbon County, I have the honor and privilege of working closely with Sheriff Daniel Zeigler in his official capacity and as a member of the Carbon County Prison Board. Since taking office over a year ago, Sheriff Zeigler has shown an ongoing commitment to advance the role of the Sheriff’s Office in interagency training and cooperation.

Zeigler’s desire to collaborate is vital to our mission of protecting and safeguarding our court offices and citizens. Nothing is more evident of this goal than Zeigler’s leadership in organizing and conducting recent active shooter training. This training will ensure all our local law enforcement officers are able to act together in response to what is an alarming and deadly trend in our nation.

Additionally, I am proud of the collaborative relationship my office shares with Dan Zeigler in regard to warrant service, writs and extraditions. His expertise and insight have proved to be essential in implementing the recommendations of the prison study on behalf of the Prison Board.

Sheriff Zeigler has not only ensured the most current certifications and qualifications of his deputies, he has consistently created new policies and procedures that addressed current concerns to conform with changing regulations. Dan Zeigler’s record of accomplishments in such a short period of time are a direct reflection of his untiring work ethic and his vision for the integrity of the office.

The residents of this county deserve a sheriff who has already proven himself to be experienced, dedicated and hardworking. Zeigler is born and raised in Carbon County, he knows our families and knows our community. I am pleased to endorse Dan Zeigler and urge your favorable consideration to keep him as sheriff of Carbon County.
