Letter to the Editor: Former Carbon County sheriff supports Zeigler

Dear Editor,

I am retired sheriff, Tony Harvilla, and I write in support of Sheriff of Carbon County candidate, Daniel G. Zeigler. Dan was my chief deputy and became sheriff when I retired in January 2022. I was twice elected by the fine voters of Carbon County. In the 2019 election cycle, I was on both the Democrat and Republican ballots and received the highest vote count of all candidates in all offices. I am now asking all of my friends and supporters to vote for Sheriff Dan Zeigler.

Since taking over for me, Dan has continued to follow in the quest for professionalism, modernization, and high standards for the Sheriff’s Office. He has initiated many new programs and ideas, and continues to seek continuous improvement of functions. He is also steadfast in dealing with the current issues facing law enforcement agencies today, especially maintaining a full work force amid non-competitive wages and salaries in county sheriff’s offices here and across the state. Dan is a highly respected member of the PA Sheriff’s Association and is working with his colleagues to seek solutions to the wage and salary issues. In addition to his many other endorsements from high profile community leaders, Sheriff Zeigler is also endorsed by current Schuylkill County Sheriff Joseph Groody, a recent past president of the PA Sheriff’s Association.

Like me, Dan is a native Carbon County man. His family name is associated with law, law enforcement, and security services in Carbon County for more than 50 years beginning in the 1960s. Dan and his family share and understand the basic values of people who grew up in Carbon County and will continue to do so as sheriff. For the betterment of Carbon County, let’s Keep Zeigler Sheriff!

Sincerely,

Tony Harvilla
