QV annual dinner

Quiet Valley Living Historical Farm if hosting its annual dinner meeting at 1:30 p.m. Sunday.

Members are reminded to purchase tickets online at www.quietvalley.org or by calling 570-992-6161 and bring a covered dish to share.

Shared appetizers and a social time will begin at 1:30 p.m. and a potluck picnic meal is set for 2 p.m. Beverages and disposable dinnerware will be provided.

The annual business meeting will follow, including election of new members of the board of directors and the presentation of the Founders’ Award. Then there will be a special presentation by Sue Detrick from the Penn State Extension Service Master Gardener Program. Folks can tour the selection of Silent Auction items provided by Friends of Quiet Valley.

Pantry needs

The Supplemental Food Resource Center at Effort UMC is seeking donations of condiments such as ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, BBQ sauce, etc.

Active Lions Club

The Western Pocono Lions Club welcomed Ray Sierminski, president, and Kayla Schatz, fundraiser, of the Pleasant Valley Cubs youth football organization at the club’s last meeting. Members learned that their recent donation to the PV Cubs will assist 150-plus youth who participate in the program.

The Western Pocono Lions Club will be back at the West End Fair in their booth, as approved at the club’s last meeting.

The membership also approved two scholarship applications.

Pizza sale

McMichaels is hosting a homemade pizza sale, with orders due by May 11 with Martha Stout at 570-992-6742. Pickup is at the church in McMichaels before 11 a.m., May 20. The pizzas are 12-inch cheese only.
