State police at Lehighton

State police at the Lehighton barracks reported on the following incidents:

• Two people were hurt in a crash at 8:08 p.m. April 9 at the intersection of Mahoning and Hemlock drivers in Mahoning Township.

Police said Brianna J. Gangale, 18, and Florence L. Duffy, 82, both of Lehighton had minor injuries and were transported by ambulance personnel to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Carbon Campus, Franklin Township.

The crash occurred when Gangale, driving a 2006 Ford, failed to stop at a posted stop sign and attempted to turn left onto Mahoning Drive in front of a 2016 Kia Optima operated by Duffy. Police said the Optima struck the left rear quarter panel of the Ford.

Gangale was cited for a “stop signs and yield signs” violation, police said.

• No one was hurt in a two-vehicle crash at 8:37 a.m. April 19 on Route 895 in East Penn Township.

Police said a 2023 Jeep Cherokee driven by Shawn M. Pitts, 31, of Lehighton, slowed to turn into a driveway and was struck from behind by a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu operated by Ronald L. Strohl, 62, of Ashfield.

Police said Strohl was cited for following too closely.

• Erin B. Jimenez, 39, of Douglassville, was injured in a motorcycle crash at 3:37 p.m. April 16 on Scenic Drive in Polk Township.

Police said she was transported by MedEvac to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Pocono, East Stroudsburg. The extent of her injuries is unknown, police said.

She was operating a 2012 Piaggio south on Scenic Drive (Route 534) when she lost control on a curve and fell from the motorcycle. Police said both the driver and cycle struck the guide rail before coming to rest.
