The Dolon-Jones-Martino American Legion Post, Jim Thorpe, conferred its 1971 Citation for Meritorious Service upon Philip F. Rodgers Jr., during the post’s annual Past Commanders’ and Past Auxiliary Presidents’ Dinner Dance held Saturday night in the St. Joseph Club in that community.

Rodgers, who served as commander of Post 304 in 1969, was presented the award by William Schlect, a past commander, while more than 100 members of the post and auxiliary looked on.

The recipient and his wife, Kathryn, are the parents of eight children. Rodgers has distinguished himself on numerous occasions while performing service to God, his community and his fellow man.
