Taco Bell coming to Hometown

Groundwork for a Taco Bell restaurant in the village of Hometown in Rush Township began recently. The fast food chain will open at the southern entrance to Walmart, just off Route 309 and near the intersection of Tide Road. The land is owned by Tamaqua Associates and is part of the Hometown Commons retail development. The company first contacted Rush Township officials with their plans in 2019. It plans to open the site by the end of summer and is seeking employees. Taco Bell’s closest restaurants are in Lehighton, Brodheadsville, Hazleton and St. Clair. JILL WHALEN/TIMES NEWS
