The Carbon County Friends of Animals held their Basket Auction Fundraiser Sunday at the Orioles in Lehighton. The proceeds from the fundraiser will be used to purchase supplies for the center located on 13th Street in Jim Thorpe.
There were more than 200 gift baskets and gift cards available according to Stacy Goldberg, President of the CCFOA.
“We have a regular basket auction, a larger-priced item auction, a bake sale, merchandise sale, and food,” Goldberg said.
CCFOA currently has close to 200 cats in the shelter, close to capacity.
“The funds we get go towards food, supplies, and medical treatment for the cats,” Goldberg said. “We are a nonprofit organization, and we depend solely on these fundraisers and people making donations.”
“We want to thank every agency every person and every volunteer who helped us make this event successful,” Kimmy Mulik of CCFOA said.
“Without everybody support, we would not have been able to do what we did this weekend.”
The shelter is offering a special during May, half off the usual adoption fee. Normally $60, the fee will be $30 for the month.
All cats receive all necessary vaccinations, they are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and are tested for feline leukemia.
