Lehighton Police Department reported on the following incidents:
• At 8:20 a.m. April 17, police were dispatched for an out-of-control juvenile.
Police said the juvenile had consumed alcoholic beverages with other individuals on the bus while on the way to the Willow Academy. Throughout the investigation, it was learned another juvenile provided other students with a white powder they identified to be “crack.”
Police confirmed the substance was not crack.
Police said two students, a 14-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy, both from Allentown, consumed and/or provided alcoholic beverages while on the bus. These students have been cited and their parents were notified.
• At 7 a.m. April 10, a 38-year-old man from Hazleton, parked his vehicle and entered the Sunoco Gas Station in Lehighton to make a purchase. At that time, someone entered his unlocked vehicle and removed a backpack which contained a laptop computer and various files and data storage devices. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call police at 610-377-4003.
• At 5:40 p.m. April 16, police responded to the 200 block of North First Street for a crash. One car struck a parked unoccupied vehicle. Police said after the 55-year-old Lehighton woman hit the parked car, she overcompensated and struck a curb.
The woman was placed through roadside sobriety testing as well as a drug influence evaluation. As a result, blood was requested and the results are still pending. Charges are also pending the lab results.
