Summit Hill Police Log
Summit Hill Police Chief Todd Woodward has released several incident reports of department activity in February and March:
• On Feb. 11, police responded to a domestic disturbance on E. Fell Street. Police said Thomas Willis, 39, of that residence, assaulted his girlfriend and fled the scene. He was located in a nearby baseball field and resisted officers when they were taking him into custody.
Willis was charged with simple assault, resisting arrest, harassment and public drunkenness and was remanded to the Carbon County Prison, Nesquehoning.
• On Feb. 14, police responded to the Panther Valley High School for a report of an out-of-control student. Police said a 15-year-old student repeatedly caused a disturbance inside the school by playing loud music, yelling and swearing, despite numerous requests to stop by staff members. The student was charged with persistent disorderly conduct and disorderly conduct. The charges were forwarded to the Carbon County Juvenile Probation Office.
• On Feb. 16, police responded to Walter Street for a domestic disturbance. They said Jason Shemansik, 50, assaulted a woman and held a knife to her neck while threatening to kill her. He was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, terroristic threats, simple assault and harassment and was remanded to the Carbon County Prison.
• On Feb. 17, police responded to a traffic crash involving three vehicles at the intersection of Pine and Amidon streets. Four people were examined at a hospital for minor injuries. Two of the vehicles involved were severely damaged and were towed from the scene. Police said a 17-year-old driver was found at fault for the crash and was cited for a stop sign violation.
• On Feb. 19, police were made aware of a dead dog, a living dog and a cat left inside of a home on West Walter Street. The investigation showed Caitlin Weaver, 38, of Summit Hill, had abandoned the animals. She was charged with neglect of an animal and cruelty to an animal.
• On Feb. 27, police responded to the 200 block of E. Fell Street for a domestic disturbance. They said Pamela Tankesley, 58, assaulted her boyfriend and cut him with a kitchen knife. She was charged with simple assault and harassment and was sent to the Carbon County Prison.
• On March 5, police responded to Lansford Court for an unwanted person. They said Christopher Theobald, 39, of Summit Hill, fled before police arrived. It is alleged he entered his ex-girlfriend’s apartment and harassed her. He was charged with disorderly conduct and harassment.
• On March 11, police responded to the 300 block of E. Fell Street for a domestic disturbance. Keyondre Lee, 19, is charged with assaulting his mother and remanded to the Carbon County Prison.
• On March 22, police followed a vehicle that’s headline was not working, stopping the driver in Lansford. They said a passenger, Jason Wersinger, 43, of Summit Hill, had an active arrest warrant from Luzerne County and was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after a search. He was remanded to the Carbon County Prison.
The driver of the vehicle, Nicole Lavoie, 46, of Summit Hill, consented to a search of the vehicle, which resulted in the finding of controlled substances and drug paraphernalia. The vehicle’s inspection was expired and the driver had a suspended driver’s license. Lavoie was charged with hindering the apprehension of a fugitive, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while operating privilege is suspended, operating a vehicle without valid inspection, and general lighting requirements.
