BARC sponsors community sale

The Bowmanstown Area Residents Connected has registered over 40 households to participate in their annual community yard sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Take a few minutes to stop by the “BARC homes” at 422 Ore St., 509 White St., and 518 Hamilton St., where they will be distributing the maps of registered sellers and information about our organization, as well as selling meat sticks and Gertrude Hawk candy bars as fundraisers for their community projects.

The home at 422 Ore St. will also be selling spring flowers and perennials.

Emmanuel UCC Church (509 Hamilton St.) will be hosting a basket social and selling hot dogs. Trinity Lutheran Evangelical Church (500 Ore St) will be open and selling items to benefit the church.

Don’t forget a few extra bucks to support the Bowmanstown Area Fire Company in their Boot Drop as you come into town.

“I love the way the community yard sale brings people together,” said Christine Bottcher, a resident of Bowmanstown and member of BARC. “I get to check out what other people are selling, and for someone else, my junk may be their treasure.”

BARC is again proud to partner with Green Drop, which will pick up donations after the sale at 2 p.m. from residents willing to donate what they do not sell.

Donations will benefit the Military Order of the Purple Heart, a Congressionally-chartered veteran’s organization made up of combat-wounded veterans who provide valuable resources, programs and support dedicated to helping all veterans and their families. MOPH relies on financial, household, and car donations to fund MOPH programs and services for military veterans and their families. Residents must be present to load donations on the truck.
