Tamaqua Area School Board plans to adopt its preliminary budget for 2023-2024 next month.
The $40.1 million spending plan with no proposed tax increase will be available for public inspection at the district administration building.
The board will meet to adopt the preliminary budget on May 9, which is the same day as the regularly scheduled committee meeting.
Due to the Primary Election on May 16, the board will hold its regular meeting a week earlier on May 9 following the committee meetings scheduled for 7 p.m., Superintendent Ray Kinder said.
The board will pass the district’s final budget on June 20, he said.
In other business, the board approved the stadium bleacher repair at a cost of $60,494 with Recreation Resources USA of Kennett Square. This is a COSTARS contract and funds will come from capital reserve.
The board also approved purchasing window coverings for the Tamaqua and West Penn elementary schools as well as the middle school for $14,647.
The coverings will create a barrier to prevent anyone from seeing if children were inside the building. The district will use Title IV funding under school safety.
The board also approved purchasing envelopes and postage for the 2023 tax bills through the U.S. Postal Service at a cost of $12,925, and a two-year agreement with C.M. Regent Solutions and Sun Life for life and long-term disability insurance with no increase in cost.
Under education, the board approved an agreement with Carbon-Lehigh Intermediate Unit No. 21 for the Student Driver Education Program for the coming school year, and the Special Education Plan Report as presented.
