Local roundup: Results from April 18
Palmerton’s Nate Stroup and Cam Pengelly held Moravian hitless in a win on Tuesday.
The Lehighton softball team also recorded a win, while Northwestern’s baseball team finished off a win in the continuation of a suspended game, and the Tigers also picked up a win in boys lacrosse action.
BASEBALL
Moravian Ac.-Palmerton
Nate Stroup twirled a no-hitter through six innings to help Palmerton to an 8-1 rout of Moravian Academy in Colonial League play.
Stroup walked four and struck out nine over 103 pitches. Cam Pengelly pitched the final frame to seal the win and finish the no-hitter.
Pengelly was 2-for-3 with three RBIs, and Brayden Hosier was 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Chase Reph was 2-for-2 with three runs scored and an RBI, and Daniel Lucykanish was 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Blue Bombers, who raised their record to 8-1.
With the loss, Moravian Academy fell to 1-7.

Blue Mtn.-Northwestern
In the completion of a game from March 20, Northwestern prevailed 9-8 over Blue Mountain in eight innings in a non-league contest.
Eli Zimmerman’s sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth inning scored Chase Moyer, who opened the eighth with a walk, moved into scoring position on a fielder’s choice and advanced to third on a steal.
Justin Augustus had three hits and a run scored for the Tigers (7-6).
Robert Croneberger and Joshua Lichman each added a double, single, walk and scored a run.
Andrew Rautzhan doubled, singled twice, walked and scored three times for the Eagles (7-3).
Brady Gustitus also singled and walked twice and scored a run, while Kory Faust added three singles and scored a run.

Emmaus-Pleasant Valley
Emmaus built a four-run lead in the third inning and held off Pleasant Valley for an 8-6 win in Eastern Pennsylvania Conference play.
Trailing 7-3, the Bears plated three runs in the fourth inning to narrow the gap to 7-6, but the Hornets added an insurance run in the seventh to close out the victory.
Maverick Walsh had a double and four RBIs, while Kole Henry added two hits for Pleasant Valley (7-5).
Emmaus, which raised its record to 8-6, was led by Chad Kauffman, Colin Wilson, and Dayne Schmidt, who each had a pair of hits, and Noah Hogan had two RBIs.

Lourdes-Lehighton
Lehighton held off a late rally to secure a 7-6 Schuylkill League victory over Our Lady of Lourdes Regional.
Amy Dwojewski was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Abbie Miller went the distance as she recorded 10 strikeouts for the Indians, who raised their record to 4-6.
Gabby Dusendshire was 3-for-4 with two RBIs, and Kamryn Kotzo was 2-for-4 with three RBIs for Lourdes (5-4).

Pen Argyl-Northwestern
Northwestern suffered its second loss of the season, falling 8-6 to Pen Argyl in Colonial League action.
The Green Knights broke open their 3-2 lead with a five-run fourth inning. Miyah Rivera went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and Jillian Bradley - who went the distance in the circle - was 3-for-4 with three RBIs for Pen Argyl, which upped its mark to 9-2.
The Tigers (11-2), who suffered their second loss in the last four games, were led my Marissa Christman, who was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs, and Abby Dunstan, who was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

BOYS LACROSSE
Northwestern-Pleasant Vy.
Austin Sosnovik’s five goals and three assists highlighted Northwestern’s 14-2 victory over Pleasant Valley.
Cade Christopher added three goals and four assists, while Blaine Snyder scored four goals and had an assist.
Stone Sosnovik scored two goals, and Devon Hildenbrand added an assist in the win.
Tyler VanDerheyden and Nicholas Iandoli both scored for the Bears, while Gavin Bauman had an assist.
Bailen Smargiassi finished with six saves for the Tigers, while Austin Smith made eight saves for Pleasant Valley.
Northwestern improved to 6-3 overall, while Pleasant Valley fell to 5-5 on the season.
