As a business, to be recognized for excellence in your local community is one thing.

But, to be honored as one of the best in the country is quite the feather in its cap.

PDC Spa and Pool World in Lehighton recently received a Top 5 Sales Award from the PDC Factory for highest sales in the country in 2022.

Steve Heydt, general manager, said the business sold about 50 hot tubs last year to customers in the area.

“It was kind of a surprise being in rural Lehighton; I knew we sold a decent amount of hot tubs, but Top 5 (in the country)? It’s a great place to work, and we appreciate the people that come in and are looking at our hot tubs.”

Heydt said the acrylic shells with hand-rolled fiberglass vinylester resin fiberglass, as well as a great TemperLoc insulation system are key features.

“Our shells are made to the point that they are strong enough to stand on their own, with no other support needed,” he said, adding that’s a pretty big deal. “There is support under the tub, but it’s only to be able to attach the outside skirting.”

Hedyt said the family-owned business at 701 Bridge St. has been at its current location for 30 years and has four employees.

“As a retailer, we pride ourselves on customer service and staying fairly local,” he said. “You can’t please everybody, but we do the best we can to stay true to our customers.”

Heydt said the business offers specialty spas, hot tubs, swim spas, saunas, above ground pools, sales, supplies, parts and service.

“I always tell our customers to research the company making it, and the (retailer) that’s selling it to you,” he said. “I think that’s where we stand out.”

Heydt said the PDC Factory in Williamsport is the oldest in the country, and was also voted No. 1 for its swim spas.

The Lehighton business will hold a Spring Spa Truckload Sale April 20-22. The event is from 9 a.m, to 5 p.m. April 20 and 21, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 22. All saunas will be on sale.

It will also hold a Customer Appreciation Day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 6.

PDC Spa & Pool World is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
