A woman was rescued from Mauch Chunk Lake Thursday night.

Summit Hill Assistant Fire Chief Len Ogozalek said the department was dispatched around 8:20 p.m. to the lake’s B dock.

“There was reports of someone calling out for help from across the lake,” Ogozalek said. “It was reported by some fishermen who were on the shore.”

Ogozalek said boats were deployed on the water, and the team was able to locate the woman and get her to the B dock safely, where she was checked by Lehighton Ambulance for evaluation.

He said also assisting at the scene were the Lehighton Fire Department with its water rescue equipment, as well as mutual aid from the Jim Thorpe Fire Department. Others assisting were the Carbon County EMA, Summit Hill Police Department, Pennsylvania State Police, PA Fish & Boat Commission, Mauch Chunk Lake park director, and Lehighton Ambulance.

“It was a very nice coordinated effort,” Ogozalek said. “Thanks to everybody for assisting.”
