Plans to demolish a property to make way for a medical office are moving forward in Tamaqua.
The Tamaqua Planning Commission recently approved a subdivision and land development plan submitted by St. Luke’s University Health Network.
St. Luke’s wants to knock down a duplex home at 600-602 Pine St., which is Route 309 North. On the land, they’ll build a one-story, 3,062-square-foot behavioral health medical office.
The plan also calls for combining the property with an adjoining one at 0 Pine St. to create a single parcel. The land is about a quarter of an acre and would house the medical office, parking for 16 vehicles and accessory features.
The property is in a highway commercial zoning district. According to Schuylkill County property records, the three parcels are owned by the Tamaqua Area Community Partnership.
The plans will now go before the Tamaqua Borough Council.
