State police are receiving calls about numerous PPL Utilities scam phone calls targeting area residents.

The phone message is prerecorded and sounds authentic. The message is regarding setting up, discontinuing utilities or utility interruption. The telephone number being used is 844-298-6930.Police advise people to not give out personal or financial information and to be aware of telephone scams.PPL is aware of the issue and has listed information on their website.Any suspicious phone calls should be directed to your local PPL electric Utilities Service Center.
