Towamensing tables vote on minor subdivision
Following approval of reports, the Towamensing Township supervisors meeting on Thursday began with a request for conditional approval for Crowne Pa. Builders minor subdivision.
As many items had not been completed on time, Chairman Guy Seifert made a motion to deny as submission of items was expected two weeks before the meeting. That motion died on the floor.
Lengthy discussion followed regarding the number of items that had not met the timeline and what needs to be completed.
After agreeing on what items still need to be completed a motion passed for conditional approval if those items are satisfied.
Another motion passed that if houses are built on the property they would need to have on-lot sewer disposal.
In old business, an ordinance to raise tax collector fees was approved. Fees for tax certification are raised to $20 and duplicates to $10.
Bids for waste disposal were discussed with 3 bids received. The decision was to go with a one-year contract with Waste Management at a rate of $65 a ton.
New business included passing a motion for solicitor James R. Nanovic to advertise for bids for recycling, hoping to open bids next month.
Discussion followed about bids for road paving. Five bids were received. Initially there were three roads that were being considered for paving, Stroll Valley, Coch and Beers Lane.
New Enterprise Stone will get the contract for $502,166.28 to complete two roads, Stroll Valley Road and Beers Lane.
The road master also reported the purchase of a new tractor to mow brush and shoulders.
The fire company reported 4 emergencies in March and 19 this year.
Fire personnel attended an electric vehicle emergency class and forest fire field training certification.
On May 13 the fire house will be hosting a craft show and flea market from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., vendor space is available.
Representatives will be attending the fire expo in Harrisburg on May 19-20. They also will attend a “Hometown Heroes” appreciation at Camelback on May 27. A work session will be planned to discuss the 4 bids for bathroom renovation in the fire house.
Electronics recycling day is from 8 a.m. to noon on April 22.
The next supervisors meeting is at 7 p.m. May 4.
