Lehighton Borough Council took the following action on Monday:

• Hired Christopher Belles as a part-time police officer at the rate of $26.71 an hour, pending his passing of the pre-employment screening process.

• Approved a $250 yearly donation to the United Veterans Organization.

• Denied a request from Bowmanstown Borough to rent Lehighton’s street sweeper April 6 and 7, or any other Thursday/Friday combination, due to the condition of the street sweeper.

• Approved a donation to the Class of 2023 All-Night Party in which council members will personally make donations on behalf of council, and not the borough.

• Approved the purchase of eight gift cards at $40 each for Administrative Professionals Day.

• Approved the Baer Memorial Pool employee list for the 2023 season.
