Three people were hurt in a three-vehicle crash at 3:11 p.m. Saturday on the Hometown Hill (Route 309) in Rush Township.
State police at Frackville said the drivers of the vehicles were injured.
They were identified as Robert E. Wittig, 52, of Tresckow, Michele A. Sarkowski, 57, of Cumbola, and Joshua C. Shelton, 18, of New Ringgold.
Police said Wittig was flown by helicopter to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township; Sarkowski was transported to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Miners Campus, Coaldale, by personnel from the Tamaqua EMS unit; and Shelton arranged a private transport to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-East, Pottsville.
Police said the crash occurred when Wittig, driving a 2018 Jeep Renegade southbound, struck a lane divider sign and continued south in the northbound lane of travel. Sarkowski, operating a 2016 Dodge Dart, was northbound at the time, rounding a right curve near Ye Old Hauto Road, when it was struck by the Renegade.
Shelton was driving a 2022 Hyundai Elantra northbound and was behind Sarkowski. His vehicle was struck by the Renegade, which continued southbound and ultimately overturned. Police said Wittig was ejected through the front windshield and his vehicle came to rest on its roof.
The three vehicles were towed from the scene.
Police said Wittig was cited.
