State Police at Fern Ridge - crashes

State police at Fern Ridge report the following incidents:

• No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 3:15 p.m. March 5 on Pheasant Run Road in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said it involved a 2010 Kia Sportage operated by Emily N. Purdy, 32, of Effort, and a 2005 Ford Explorer driven by a 17-year-old girl from Bath.

Police said Purdy was cited for the incident.

• Police said a one-vehicle crash involved four people at 8:33 p.m. March 17 on East Old Stage Road in Penn Forest Township.

Police said the driver of the 2006 Mercury Milan was a 17-year-old girl from Effort who had possible injuries but refused medical treatment.

Three passengers were in the vehicle, including a 17-year-old boy from Jim Thorpe who was transported to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Carbon Campus, Franklin Township. Police said he had minor injuries. The other two passengers were a 16-year-old girl from Jim Thorpe and a 16-year-old boy from Albrightsville. Police said they too refused a medical transport.

Police said the driver was cited for the incident.

• Ernist Minzhasharov, of Monsey, New York, was not injured when he crashed his Freightliner truck at 10:43 p.m. Feb. 27 on Interstate 80 in Kidder Township.

Police said he lost control of the vehicle and struck a guide rail. The vehicle was towed from the scene. The right lane was closed for approximately three hours, police said.

Minzhasharov will be cited for the incident.

• No injuries were reported when a vehicle rear-ended another on Interstate 80 at 12:40 a.m. Feb. 28, police said.

According to police, Violet Hecmanczuk, of Pittsburgh, was driving behind a 2022 Freightliner operated by Giovanie Torres Cruz, Jenkins Township, at the Exit 277 ramp in Kidder Township. Police said Torres Cruz stopped his vehicle and Hecmanczuk drove into it. Her vehicle sustained disabling damage, police said.

She will be cited for following too closely.

• Police cited Emily Purdy, of Effort, following a crash on Pheasant Run Road in Chestnuthill Township at 3:15 p.m. March 5.

Police said Purdy was driving west when she struck an eastbound vehicle operated by a 17-year-old Bath resident. No injuries were reported.

• Serena DePasquale, 19, of Sussex, New Jersey, was not injured in a one-vehicle crash that occurred at 3 p.m. March 10 on Gilbert Road in Chestnuthill Township, state police said.

According to troopers, DePasquale was traveling south and lost control when rounding a curve. Her vehicle struck and broke a utility pole, police said.

She was cited for the incident.

• No one was injured when a car struck a tree alongside Interstate 80 in Tunkhannock Township at 4:02 p.m. Feb. 20.

Police said Lucio Ruiz, 44, of Passaic, New Jersey, was traveling west when he lost control of the vehicle, exiting the ride side of the road.

Ruiz and his two passengers were not injured. The vehicle suffered disabling damage.

Police said he will be cited for the incident.
