Fire companies from West Penn and the American Hose Company of Tamaqua responded to a dwelling fire this morning in West Penn Township.

Shortly after 9 a.m. the fire was reported at 613 Penn Drive, Route 443, as a possible chimney fire. Firefighters quickly contained the situation and used exhaust fans to clear the home of the smoke.

Fire police maintained traffic control at the scene making Route 443 one alternating lane.
