Carbon County officials continue to work on drying out office and conference space after a sprinkler head in the 44 Susquehanna St. building in Jim Thorpe failed Monday afternoon.
The damage happened on the first floor of the building, where the Elections Office is located, and personnel were moved to the second floor on Tuesday, Commissioner Rocky Ahner said.
Elections personnel will continue to work from on the second floor at least until Friday, he said.
No equipment or elections material was damaged in the leak, he said.
Most of the damage occurred on the floor, and carpeting will likely need to be replaced, he said. County maintenance personnel worked late into the night Monday on the cleanup, he said.
A mitigation company also began work on drying out the space with large fans and dehumidifiers Monday night, Ahner said.
The flooring under the carpet in the Elections Office is concrete, and the carpeting was carpet tile, which is easier to replace than traditional carpeting, he said.
