Emergency crews battled two brush fires in Carbon County Monday afternoon. The first was reported in East Penn Township just after 3:30 p.m. The fire appeared to have started in a pile of brush and was fanned by high winds. The firefighters used brush trucks to bring the fire under control. The second fire was reported just after 5 p.m. at 3050 Little Gap Road, Lower Towamensing Township.
