Repairs to a bridge on Route 54 near the village of Hometown in Rush Township will begin on Wednesday.
The bridge, which is near the Marian Road intersection, crosses the Little Schuylkill River.
The project’s scope includes bridge deck replacement and bridge beam repairs, according to Sean Brown, a Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) spokesman.
Traffic will be maintained in both directions during construction.
Brown estimated that repairs should be complete in June, however, schedules are subject to change.
Fabcor Inc., Jessup, will be the contractor for the $5.47 million project.
The work is part of the Northeast Pennsylvania Bridge Preservation and Repair Project to repair 12 structures in Schuylkill, Carbon and Monroe counties, Brown said.
