State police at Fern Ridge were summoned at 8:56 p.m. March 4 to the West End Fairgrounds, Chestnuthill Township, to investigate a reported burglary.
Upon arrival, troopers observed multiple broken windows at the main office building of the Fair, as well as broken windows to multiple buildings in the fairground property.
Police said determined that someone broke into the main office and stole a golf cart from inside the garage, set off multiple fire extinguishers inside the main office building, ultimately ruining the office equipment, and drove off with the golf cart.
Police said the golf cart was located on the fairgrounds property with the key missing from it.
Police said a passerby observed two juveniles doing doughnuts in a field about a mile from the scene, using the golf cart, which was later located inside the pond behind Our Lady Queen of Peace Church.
Police said the juveniles, ages 15 and 17, were taken into custody and had the golf cart key in their possession.
In a related report, police said a 42-year-old man from Gilbert is the victim of the theft of the cart, a 2023 red Coleman Power Sports ATV.
