Chestnuthill hires project coordinator

The Chestnuthill Township supervisors hired a project coordinator and awarded a tree trimming contract during their meeting Tuesday night.

Steve Baade, who will also enforce codes, was hired as a project coordinator at $31.71 an hour.

Baade has a background in stormwater management.

Dunkelberger’s Tree Service was the only bid for tree trimming and was awarded the job, not to exceed $86,000.

In addition to trees in the township, six specific roads will be taken care of: White Church Road, Burger Hollow Road, North Rocky Mountain, South Rocky Mountain, Upper Ridge and White Butte Drive.

A motion passed to increase the bond for the Williams Pipeline Excess Management Agreement. The township engineer signed off on Pioneer Construction’s request for a second payment of $133,533.00 for culvert work on Bush Lane.

In new business, Joseph Tavianini Jr. requested zoning amendments of two properties along route 209. After discussion with his attorney, the motion was tabled so supervisors could research it.

Karen Hayes was hired as part-time zoning/planning administrative assistant at $20 an hour.

A motion passed to purchase a 2023 Felling trailer for $39,648.36 and a new Takeuchi TB290 excavator for $135,130.85. Both pieces of equipment were bought at a discount.

The bill list passed using general funds and ARP funds, of which $7,875 remains, for stormwater use.

The Pleasant Valley Assembly of God land development plan and McDonald’s Corporation Site improvements were tabled.

Louise Troutman, of Pocono Heritage Land Trust, said that they have put a bid in for the Trexler Camp property, 30 acres of which are in Chestnuthill Township with the rest in Polk Township, which is donating $50,000. Thus far significant donors have given money as well as partnering with Children’s Burn Victims camp. The plan is for the 30 acres in Chestnuthill Township to be open space. A motion passed for the township to pledge $6,000 to preserve Camp Trexler.

The West End Fire Company reported 38 calls in February and 66 to date this year.

An executive session will be at 6 p.m. March 21 at 6 p.m. to discuss potential litigation and a conditional use hearing.

The next supervisors meeting is at 7 p.m. April 11.
