State police at Lehighton - crashes
State police at Lehighton released details on area crashes:
• No one was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 11:53 a.m. Feb. 17 on Blakeslee Boulevard Drive in Mahoning Township.
Police said Richard G. Wolfe, 34, of Tamaqua, was operating a 2018 GMC Sierra eastbound when he lost control of the vehicle. It crossed the center lines, went off the road and struck a guide rail, then continued forward, coming to rest in a grass field. The vehicle sustained disabling damages and was towed from the scene.
Wolfe and a passenger, Gwen E. Langenstein, 30, also of Tamaqua, were not injured.
• Two people sustained minor injuries in a crash at 12:42 p.m. Feb. 23 on Route 115 in Ross Township.
Police said Edward F. Younghans, 68, and Grace A. Younghans, 69, of Ephrata, were transported by Lehighton Ambulance Association personnel to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Monroe Campus, Stroudsburg.
Police said it happened when a 2023 Kia Sorento operated by Kathryn A. Reed, 68, of Bethlehem, entered Old Route 115 from a business while an oncoming vehicle operated by Edward Younghans was traveling north. Younghans, driving a 2021 Jeep Cherokee, could not stop in time and the Jeep struck the Sorento resulting in disabling damages to both vehicles.
• Devin S. Hinkle, 26, of Lehighton, was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed after a one-vehicle crash at 5:03 p.m. Feb. 27 on Route 248 in Franklin Township.
Police said he was driving a 2017 BMW too fast for conditions when it struck a concrete barrier. He was uninjured.
The vehicle was towed from the scene.
• Janice A. Puliti, 71, of Jim Thorpe, was not hurt when a car she was driving slid on ice, went off the road and struck a tree.
Police said it happened at 4:38 p.m. March 1 on Midway Drive in Penn Forest Township when Puliti was driving a 2017 Subaru Forester. The car had disabling front damages.
