Jim Thorpe graduate Skyler Searfoss was recently voted All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Second Team, and also captured one of the four major awards as Rookie of the Year.
Searfoss became the fifth CACC Rookie of the Year in the program’s Division II history, joining Kelly Killion (2004-05), Melissa Brooks (2005-06), Catherine Carr (2007-08) and teammate Moe Moore (2019-20).
The freshman entered play Tuesday in the top four in the conference in field goal percentage (51.9), free throws made (100) and free throw percentage (83.3), while ranking in the top 12 in points (13.0), assists per game (3.2) and steals (41).
In addition to leading HFU in scoring, assists per game, free throws made and free throw percentage, the four-time CACC Rookie of the Week is second in field goal percentage, minutes per game (30.6), field goals made (109) and steals.
Searfoss has scored in double-figures in 18-of-25 appearances, most notably pouring in a season-high 38 on 12-of-15 field goals and 14-of-17 free throws in a win over regionally-ranked Lincoln on Nov. 25. Those 38 points are tied for the third most by a Division II freshman in 2022-23.
Searfoss played a key role in helping Holy Family to a 71-62 win over Felician in the CACC quarterfinals on Tuesday. She posted the game’s second-highest point total, 18, by making 12-of-14 free throws, while adding five rebounds and a team-high four assists.
With the win, the Tigers advance to the CACC Tournament Semifinals hosted by Jefferson, where they will take on North Division champion Post at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
