The Gabriel Chamber Ensemble presents the third concert of its 33rd season with music by great masters Beethoven and Mozart.
On the program is one of the repertoire’s finest works for chamber presentation, Beethoven’s String Quartet Op. 131 – about this piece, Franz Schubert remarked, “After this, what is left for us to write?”
Also on the program is the Mozart Piano Concerto K. 466, transcribed for piano solo and string quartet. This Piano Concerto was often performed by Beethoven himself. In this case it will be performed by GCE’s own virtuosic pianist, Dr. Xun Pan. In this piece, Mozart expressed his deeply troubled, personal thoughts through the music’s dramatic and romantic character.
The concert takes place on Sunday, at 3 p.m., at the Jerusalem Lutheran Church, 252 Dock St., Schuylkill Haven.
In addition to Xun Pan on piano, the concert features Ensemble members Simon Maurer and Dana Allaband violinists, Agnès Maurer, violist and Gerall Hieser, cellist.
There is a cost for adults and seniors. Students are free.
The GCE is a nonprofit, professional chamber music ensemble, dedicated to presenting high-quality performances from the chamber music repertoire.
