Snow, freezing rain possible this afternoon

A winter weather advisory is in effect from 10 a.m. today through 1 a.m. Thursday.

Mixed precipitation is expected. Total snow accumulations of up to one inch and ice accumulations of around one tenth of an inch are possible in Carbon and Monroe counties.

Expect slippery conditions on area roads and walkways, especially in higher elevations. The hazardous conditions could impact the Wednesday evening commute.

Today: Rain and snow before 3 p.m., then sleet, possibly mixed with rain. High near 39. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Tonight: Rain likely, mainly between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. Areas of fog after 2 a.m. Otherwise, cloudy, with a low around 33. East wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Thursday: A chance of rain before 8 a.m., then a slight chance of showers between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. Areas of fog before 8 a.m. Otherwise, partly sunny, with a high near 59. West wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 33. Breezy, with a south wind 5 to 10 mph becoming west 15 to 25 mph after midnight.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 36. Windy, with a northwest wind 25 to 30 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph.
