A Brooklyn, New York, driver was apprehended following a vehicle and foot chase in Monroe County.
Pocono Mountain Regional police said at 10:28 a.m. on Wednesday they attempted to conduct a traffic stop of a gray BMW sedan along Route 196 in Coolbaugh Township.
The driver fled the scene and a pursuit began north on 196.
At the K&L gate to A Pocono Country Place, the driver made a U-turn and fled southbound on 196 at a high rate of speed.
Police were able to bring the vehicle to a stop at which point the driver ran into the gated community.
Police were able to identify the driver as Carmine Villafane, 19. He was taken into custody about 4 p.m., police said. Police also noted the BMW was not street legal.
He was arraigned on charges of fleeing or attempting to elude police, a felony 3, and misdemeanor counts of reckless endangering another person, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and multiple summary motor vehicle code violations. He was released on $10,000 unsecured bail.
