Panther Valley’s Drew Kokinda set a new school record for three-pointers in a game as the Panthers defeated Weatherly on Thursday.

Panther Valley-Weatherly

Drew Kokinda hit 11 three-pointers as Panther Valley rolled to a 78-46 non-league victory over host Weatherly.

Kokinda set a new school record for threes in a game,- breaking the old mark of nine shared by Jake Szczecina and Brandon Stilitino - and finished the contest with 35 points.

The PV junior, who also tied a Weatherly Middle School floor record with his threes, connected on six of his treys in the opening quarter as the Panthers raced to a 29-11 lead.

Kokinda added two more threes in both the second and third quarters, and tallied No. 11 in the fourth frame.

The winners, who finished with 17 treys as a team, also received nine points from Thomas Buyce.

Ian McLaurin paced the Wreckers with 12 points, while Corbin Wagner added 11 and Jordan Mitchell contributed 10.

Panther Valley ended regular season play at 13-9. Weatherly is now 1-20.

In the JV game, PV won 65-45 to end its season at 14-5-1.

Evan Meckes scored a team-high seven points for the Blue Raiders.

Panther Valley-Tamaqua

Danny Wehr scored a game-high 14 points to lead Panther Valley to a 44-16 victory over Tamaqua.

The Blue Raiders received a team-high five points from Evan Meckes.

Mahanoy Area-Tamaqua

Mahanoy Area edged Tamaqua by a 28-27 score.

Luke Frohnheiser topped the Blue Raiders with 12.

8TH GRADE

Weatherly-Marian

Weatherly cruised to a 45-7 victory over Marian.

Chase Griere led the Wreckers with 13 points.
