The Second Annual Damian Mele Memorial Tournament is set to take place Saturday, March 25 at Lehighton Area High School.

The event honors the memory of former Lehighton basketball player Damian C. Mele. It is held to celebrate and remember a life filled with family, friends, happiness and competition.

The tourney, which begins at 7:30 a.m., will have a 3v3 double elimination format with casual and competitive divisions. Event day will also feature a basket raffle, food and memorial T-shirts for sale.

For the $21-per-player sign-up fee, each person receives a T-shirt and drink voucher. The winning team in each division receives medals and free admission for the following year.

The event had 35 teams a year ago. It also features a large basket raffle, and will include premium items available to win such as a 45-inch flat screen TV, a Martin Guitar, an IPad Pro, a Nintendo Switch and Philadelphia team-signed jerseys and tickets.

In addition, there will be a separate raffle for NBA tickets and hotel stay in New York City as well as a 50/50 drawing.

All proceeds go directly towards the Damian C. Mele Memorial Scholarship Fund.
