Kelly Sheridan is running for magisterial district judge

Kelly Sheridan, a resident of Summit Hill and long-time member of the Panther Valley community, has announced her intention to enter the race for magisterial district judge in District 56-3-03, which opened when the current Judge, Casimir T. Kosciolek announced his retirement.

Sheridan will seek bipartisan support to make her dream of serving the residents of Lansford, Nesquehoning and Summit Hill, East Penn Township and part of Mahoning Township a reality.

“Even though you are required to be elected by the community, this is a politically neutral position. I believe there is no room for politics when justice is sought.”

Together with her husband Barney they graciously spent 15 years as small business owners of Kelly’s Irish Pub in Lansford. They raised two children, Molly, Panther Valley Class of 2018, and Ben, Panther Valley ROTC member and CCTI Class of 2020. While her children attended Panther Valley she served as president of the Panther Valley Football Booster Club and vice president of the Lady Panthers Basketball Booster Club. She holds current memberships in the Italian Mutual Beneficial Society of Lansford, American Fire Company # 1 in Lansford and St. Joseph Parish in Summit Hill. She is also proud to support the Carbon County Environmental Center as well as The First Catholic Slovak Union of the United States.

Her commitment to the office has been proven when, prior to running for office she completed certification training through the Minor Judiciary Education Board as is required for non-lawyer candidates. This training, along with her most recent work experience at Magisterial District Court 56-3-01 in Jim Thorpe, makes her uniquely qualified for this position.

“Unfortunately, I had to resign my position at the District Court to run for office, but I’m ready to take my knowledge and experience to the next level. I hope the people of District 56-3-03 agree and vote for me as their next Magisterial District Judge. I truly believe the right experience is important, and I am the only candidate with that very specific experience.”
