Amershek receives award at Scranton

Emily M. Amershek, of New Ringgold, received the Frank O’Hara medal at the University of Scranton for her work in the classroom.

The O’Hara medal is presented to students with the highest grade-point averages in their first-, second- or third-year in the College of Arts and Sciences, the Kania School of Management and the Panuska College of Professional Studies for the 2021-22 academic year.

The award is named in honor of the late Frank O’Hara, who served the university for 53 years in various administrative positions. It was presented at a ceremony held on campus recently.

Amershek received a medal for academic achievement for her junior year and is a recipient of the university’s full-tuition Presidential Scholarship. She is a junior majoring in philosophy with minors in theology and international studies and concentrations in legal studies and health humanities.

She also received an O’Hara award in 2021.
