State police at the Fern Ridge barracks reported on two fraud incidents involving Carbon County residents.

A 80-year-old man from Old Stage Road in Albrightsville, Penn Forest Township, reported someone made duplicates of his personal checks and forged his signature. He said $8,210 was taken from his checking account.

A 40-year-old woman from Browning Way in Albrightsville, Penn Forest Township, reported she received a fraudulent email from PayPal stating $1,399.99 was going to be withdrawn from her account. The victim then spoke with an individual posing as a representative from PayPal via telephone at which point she gave remote access to her husband’s laptop that contained several personal documents. The investigation is continuing.
