Schuylkill County Court

Schuylkill County Judge Christopher Hobbs recently ruled on three cases.

Savannah Osty, 22, of Tamaqua, was charged by borough Police Officer Christopher J. Cordes with criminal mischief-tampering with property and disorderly conduct on July 17, 2022.

Hobbs placed Osty in the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program for 12 months. Entry into the program is not an admission of guilt, and defendants’ records may be cleared if they successfully complete the program.

Hobbs ordered Osty to pay $50 a month for the cost of supervision, and $350 to defray the cost of the program. She must also pay $537.42 in restitution to the victim, and complete 10 hours of community service.

Kobe David Turner, 22, of Summit Hill, was charged by Pottsville Police Officer Isaac J. Souchak with possession/sale/use of display documents, operating a vehicle without valid inspection, operating with unsafe equipment, and driving with obscured plates on July 31, 2022.

Hobbs placed him in the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program for 12 months. Entry into the program is not an admission of guilt, and defendants’ records may be cleared if they successfully complete the program.

The charges of operating a vehicle without valid inspection, operating with unsafe equipment, and driving with obscured plates were dropped.

Chase Melvin Rang, 35, of Barnesville, was charged by State Police at Frackville with retail theft on Aug. 3, 2022.

Hobbs accepted his guilty plea and sentenced him to pay $752.13 in restitution to AT&T; serve nine to 23 months in jail followed by one year on probation; and to submit a DNA sample and pay the $250 fee.

He was given credit for time served from Aug. 2, 2022 through Oct. 4, 2022.

Rang was also ordered to pay a $50 monthly supervision fee and $150 in other fees.
